Our Lady of Lynton

This year the wonderful feast of the Immaculate Conception was celebrated with a candlelit procession! Amidst great joy and loud singing we processed with our candles from the Church right to the top of our hillside garden, to our very own grotto tucked away in the rock.

The path to the grotto had been carefully prepared, and decorated with candles to guide us to Mary, however, the severe Lynton wind had been merciless, and most of them had been blown out before we arrived. But nothing could dampen our enthusiasm, and we sang our Ave Maria’s with even greater strength so that those following could hear, if not see, the way forward!

Once arrived at the top we saw that Our Lady’s grotto had been protected from the wind and all the candles in the trees around her were still shining brightly. A little reminder that those who stay close to Our Lady will never be in darkness. We asked Mary to interceed for us, and had a moment of great grace close to her. There we left our candles and prayer intentions at her feet and returned joyfully to the Church to sing her litanies and consecrate ourselves once more to her protection.

Our Lady of Lynton, pray for us!
