Grotto Garden transformation

Day 1 of our mission to create a beautiful garden for Our Lady

Hidden at the top of our hillside garden is a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary tucked away in a rocky niche just like the grotto at Lourdes. Saddly the garden has fallen into neglect, but recently with the help of some friends we began to cut back years of growth and discover some unexpected treasures.

Equipped and ready to go!

After the first day we already began to see our efforts bearing fruit, and little by little a real transformation was visible!

End of Day 2, great improvement but the best was yet to come!

Day 3 We discovered buried paths and walls that we didn’t even know were there

Our garden project was well timed, a few days later we had a Marian procession to the grotto to mark the end of the month of May. After Sunday Mass everyone came to offer flowers to Our Lady in her new garden.

Our Lady is crowned Queen during the Marian Procession.

The work to replant the garden is now beginning, we are going to lay a lawn and fill the flower beds with flowers that are connected to the Mystery of Mary, lilies, roses, lilies of the valley, Lady’s mantle, irises and more!

If you would like to donate flowers for Our Lady’s grotto garden then please get in touch.

As the work continues we will post the latest photos of the grotto garden.

We are looking forward to having a candle lit procession for the feast of the Assumption, that will give us something to work towards.
